Mrs. Sarah May
I feel so blessed to have joined the SJS family! It is a true blessing to not only share a love of music with students, but to also help them grow in their faith. I grew up in the Catholic faith and began
taking piano lessons as a child. I also performed in many choirs, concerts, and recitals throughout my school career. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with both a Bachelors degree in Music Education in 2008 and then a Masters degree in Music Education in 2011. Before coming to SJS, I taught general music for seven years in the Deerfield public schools and four years at St. Patricia School in the Chicago Archdiocese. I believe every student can develop musically through various modes of learning and performing. I really enjoy making and creating music with students, helping them understand the basics of music, and discovering how music has evolved throughout history.
Besides being a music teacher, I have been married for nine years and have four children ages 8,6,3, and 1. I enjoy being with my family, playing the piano (when I have time!), and being outside. My husband and I are also big sports fans and love watching baseball, football, and college basketball and football.
