St. Joseph School starts construction on school addition

March 4, 2019

St. Joseph School in Downers Grove put its motto of “Come Grow With Us” into action on Sunday, March 3 with a Groundbreaking Ceremony that celebrated the start of construction for the school’s first addition since 1955.

Over 125 enthusiastic and supportive parishioners braved the cold for the momentous ceremony that was officiated by Pastor Father John Phan along with Father Bill Cullen.

SJS sixth-grader Hannah Baer served as lector for the reading and School Board President Sarah Paul read the intentions.

Fr. John thanked our parishioners for their generosity and devotion to our parish community.

Groundbreakers included: Campaign Chairs Steve and Cindy Jagielo, Duke and Nancy Petrovich and Burt and Christy Yeo, architect Bill Sturm, Principal Rita Stasi, and Fr. John Phan.

We are excited about our new classrooms, handicap accessibility and enhanced security at the school,” Mrs. Stasi said.

The St. Joseph School addition is expected to be completed this August. It will include an elevator to provide accessibility throughout the school, three classrooms, a secure entrance, administrative offices, improved hallway circulation and two restrooms.

St. Joseph School has over 400 students in grades PreK through Grade Eight and is currently enrolling students for fall 2019. Come Grow With Us!
